We are only three days away from one of the spookiest nights of the year – Halloween! If your kids are disappointed about not being home to trick or treat through the neighborhood, never fear! There are several ways for them to still get plenty of candy for Mom and Dad to snack from when the kids are sleeping.
One of these options is the annual Halloween Trick or Treat at The Island in Pigeon Forge. The businesses at The Island participate in the usual trick or treating activities, plus there is a costume contest and a Halloween parade. If you are in costume, you can also purchase half-priced unlimited ride tickets. A live bluegrass band will be performing on the Ole Smoky Stage from 5-11 pm. Another fun way to participate in the festivities is at the Dollywood Harvest Festival. Throughout the day, park attendees can watch talented artisans create the pumpkin displays that are located throughout Dollywood. At night, many of these displays are lit up as giant jack-o-lanterns. There is also glow-in-the-dark face painting, as well as specialty pumpkin flavored foods. This event lasts through November 3, so don’t worry if you can’t make it before or on Halloween. Do you want to participate in the holiday festivities, but the thought of walking around in the cold is not appealing to you? Then the Wonder of Magic Halloween Spooktacular magic show at WonderWorks is the event for you! Star magician Terry Evanswood is the longest performing show headliner in Pigeon Forge. Running through November 2, this show is the perfect activity for the entire family to experience together. Enjoy your Halloween!

Ken just got back from a photo workshop in the Smokies that ended on Oct 21st. The picture above was taken on Oct 19th. Although there is some color in the mountains, unfortunately for him, the peak fall foliage has not yet arrived. However, that means you are not too late to see the peak fall foliage in the Smokies. In fact, according to this Fall Foliage Prediction Map, the peak is not going to hit the area until about Nov 9th this year. If you want to see the fall colors, now is the time to book your stay in the Smokies. Mountains on My Mind, located in Wears Valley, is just a few miles from the entrance to the new section of the Foothills Parkway as well as only a few miles from the entrance to the Smokies at Metcalf Bottoms. From the front porch of this particular cabin, you will have an amazing view of the fall colors across Wears Valley and on the surrounding mountains. In fact, the main picture on the home page of this website was taken from the porch of Mountains on My Mind in a previous year.
Conventional wisdom says if you purchase a cabin that already has a name... don't change it! That is precisely what we planned to do when we purchased this cabin. Million Dollar Views is a great name for this cabin and truly does convey what this cabin is about. The view from this cabin is simply indescribable. The problem is that in the Pigeon Forge area there are numerous cabins named Million Dollar View or Million Dollar Views. One of them has even taken out a Google ad that pops up on searches for cabins in the area, and that particular cabin has some pretty bad reviews. We have had some guests read the reviews for that cabin after booking with us and thought those reviews were about our cabin! Our cleaning company and pest control company also support other cabins in the area with the same name. This has caused some confusion on more than one occasion. So, although we love the name for this cabin, we have decided to change the name to...
Mountains on My Mind From the front porch, high atop a knoll on Cove Mountain, you can look out and see the Smokies to the South, Bluff Mountain to the North, and numerous mountains beyond the beautiful vista of Wears Valley below. The view is simply something to behold. Words cannot describe it, and after visiting this cabin, you will understand why there are Mountains on My Mind. |
